UNDP is planting good deeds in Bubuieci

The first planting activity of the „Plantăm fapte bune în Moldova” (“Planting good deeds in Moldova”) campaign was organized with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in the framework of the project “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation into Moldova’s territorial planning policies and land use practices”. This project is implemented in accordance with Moldova’s accession to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which requires taking measures to reduce the rate of loss of natural habitats, including forests.

So, the planting event on November 14, 2015 was attended by members of the UNDP project “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in Moldova”.

Sergiu Cotsaga, UNDP project “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in Moldova”:
As a child, for every prank I did my grandmother took me to our garden, where we planted a fruit tree together. Now, I have quite a large orchard. However, today I came here – sorry if I’m repeating myself – to plant good deeds only. I’m proud of the fact that we have such energetic young people, with noble, proper initiatives with a lasting impact. We are immensely happy that we, United Nations Development Programme and the team of the project “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in Moldova” are here on this beautiful, sunny day, supporting the initiative “Plantăm fapte bune în Moldova”. We wish them success and lots of energy. With small steps, we are moving Moldova forward.

Catalina Molodoi, UNDP project “Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in Moldova”:
You cannot even imagine how happy I am at the moment. So many beautiful and enthusiastic people, live music, sun – and all together we are planting good deeds. I came today with my daughter; she is almost two years old. When she becomes older, I’ll bring her here again so that she sees her today’s contribution and learns that every good deed bears fruit. And I’m so proud of my colleagues who have enthusiastically accepted the proposal to become partners and participants of this project.

Moreover, in 2013 UNDP Moldova has contributed to the creation of the National Park “Orhei”, where currently pilot projects for biodiversity conservation and degraded land improvements are being implemented, thus supporting adaptation of the park’s ecosystems to the effects of climate change.

We are very grateful to the United Nations Development Programme for their trust, participation and support of the “Seed it forward” initiative.
